Fish Tausi Recipe or Fish in Salted Back Beans Recipe is so easy to prepare. It is another way to elevate a simple fried fish to a new dish. Fried some cubed tofu for extra joy.
Tausi or salted black beans can easily be found in the grocery. It can be in can or in pouch. You really need to rinse it once to remove those extra salt.
You can use any kind of fish for this recipe but for this recipe we will use tilapia. Tilapia is really affordable and flavorful. The first thing you need to do is to thoroughly clean the tilapia. Then, fry it until golden brown.
I prefer this dish with fried cubed tofu. The tofu gives this dish that extra texture. A crunchy outside but soft in the inside. Plus, I love tofu. No matter how you prepare it.
In making the sauce for the Fish Tausi Recipe, you simply need to sauté everything. Then, the oyster sauce and hoisin sauce gives this dish its Asian touch and flavor. Sweet and savory. I also added a tablespoon of kimchi seasoning for that extra kick. The kimchi seasoning gives this spicy kick but it does not linger that much compared to chili.

4 pieces | Tofu Cubed, cut into cubes |
2 pieces | Tilapia, cut into 3 parts each |
3 Tablespoons | Olive Oil |
8 cloves | Garlic, chopped |
1 bulb | Onion, chopped |
3 pieces | Ripe Tomatoes, chopped |
3 Tablespoons | Tausi or Salted Black Beans, rinse once |
1/2 cup | Water |
3 Tablespoons | Oyster Sauce |
2 Tablespoons | Hoisin Sauce |
1 Tablespoon | Kimchi Seasoning |
1 3/4 cups | Water |
3 Tablespoons | Cornstarch |
1/4 cups | Water |
Salt | |
Ground Black Pepper |
Procedure
Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry the tofu until golden brown on eash sides. Set a side.
Fry the tilapia until golden brown and set a side.
Saute garlic, onion and tomatoes in olive oil. Add the tausi and water. Cover and let it simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. Gently press the tomatoes with the back of the wooden spoon to release its natural juice.
Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, kimchi seasoning and water. Simmer for another 10 minutes over low heat.
Premix the cornstarch and water. Slowly add a tablespoon at a time with continuous stirring until your desired consistency is achieved. Season with salt and pepper.
Add the fried tilapia and tofu. Toss and simmer for another 5 minutes.

- 1 3/4 cups Water
- 3 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- 1/4 cup Water
- Salt
- Ground Black Pepper
Instructions
