This Beef Short Ribs Barbecue Recipe is a quick and easy recipe to enjoy with your family. All you have to do is marinate the beef short ribs and bake in the oven for several hours. Then, mop it with your favorite barbecue sauce and bake for several minutes at a very high temperature oven.
Last week, our barangay was scheduled to go out to do the necessary stuffs like doing the grocery. For the entire lockdown, we haven’t eaten any beef in two months. Luckily, I saw these beautiful beef short ribs and bought a kilo. I don’t have anything in mind yet but beef barbecue is top of my mind.
I’ve done several pork ribs barbecue before but this will be the first time cooking it out of beef. We don’t have any smoker at home but our very trusted oven is enough to satisfy our fall-of-the-bone ribs barbecue craving. All I have to do is marinate the meat and bake in the oven for several hours which always works.
For this recipe, I made use of some ingredients that might irked someone but hey! This is my recipe and it worked. The beef is tender and tasty. So what are these? Caesar salad dressing and prepared mustard sauce. Yup! You read it right.
Tips
For this Beef Short Ribs Barbecue I made use of Caesar salad dressing, prepared mustard sauce and the usual barbecue spices. I thought of these sauces will keep the meat hydrated and will help to tenderize the meat because of its acidity. Besides, these sauces are already seasoned.
The secret to super tender and fall-of-the-bone is a very low heating and slow cooking process. I cooked this at 150 degrees Celsius for 3 hours. Cooking time might vary depending on the size of your ribs. Simply poke it with a fork and if it’s tender it’s done. I increased the oven temperature and mop it with a barbecue sauce and baked it again just to caramelized the sauce.
To achieve that smoky barbecue flavor, you can add liquid smoke. I find it expensive but one of these days I might buy one to try.

1 kilo | Beef Short Ribs |
1/4 cup | Caesar Dressing |
1/4 cup | Prepared Mustard |
1/4 cup | Spanish Paprika |
2 Tablespoons | Brown Sugar |
1/2 teaspoon | Cumin Powder |
1/2 teaspoon | Ground Black Pepper |
1 1/2 teaspoon | Salt |
1/2 cup | Water |
1/4 cup | Barbecue Sauce |
Procedure
Preheat oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
Thoroughly clean the beef short ribs and pat dry.
In a bowl, combine Caesar dressing, prepared mustard, Spanish paprika, sugar, cumin, ground black pepper and salt. Mix to form a paste.
Rub the beef short ribs with the marinade and marinate for 4 hours or overnight.
Place the ribs on a baking pan and pour half cup of water. Securely cover the pan with aluminum foil. Bake in the oven for 3 to 4 hours.
Remove the aluminum foil and collect the meat drippings. Combine the meat drippings and the barbecue sauce. Baste the beef short ribs with the barbecue sauce mixture.
Increase oven temperature to 250 degrees Celsius. Place the beef short ribs uncovered in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes to caramelized the sauce.
