My mom always cooked Garlic Butter Shrimp for our pack lunch or baon. She cooks it once or twice a month. The reason? It is so easy to prepare. Simply sauté the shrimps in butter with garlic and that’s it.
However, I’m in the mood to cook and decided to drench the shrimps in flour mixture to lightly cover the shrimps and deep fried it. Then, I sautéed the shrimps in butter garlic sauce and that’s it. The best thing of doing it this way is you get a different texture.
The potato flour breading gives the shrimps a nice crunch. Also, the breading helps the garlic butter sauce to really stick to the shrimps. The breading absorbs the garlic butter flavor which makes it tastier.
Garlic Butter Shrimp is so easy to prepare. It’s flavorful. Every bite you get this nice crunchy outer layer and as your teeth sink in, you will have this tender shrimp meat. The shrimp meat has this subtle sweetness combined with the savory garlic butter flavor.
Tips
Remove the shell except the head. It will make the life of your love ones easier if you peel it for them. Otherwise, you can leave it as is. Do not remove the head. The head is very flavorful. You may want to suck its juice and take a handful of rice. I don’t like the whisker and that sharp horn of the shrimp so I just cut it off.
You can drizzle some lemon juice after cooking it or add some dried pepper flakes or even chili sauce if you want some kick.
