Spread the love
Breakfast Sausage Casserole

This Breakfast Sausage Casserole is a complete one pot meal. It is so filling which is just right for breakfast. Oh! The good thing about this dish is, it is so easy to prepare.

Yesterday night, I went to the grocery and when I set foot on the frozen section I stumble upon King Sue sausages. I’m curious how does their sausages taste. I grab a 500 gram pack of German Franks and Hungarian Sausage.

I was think of simply frying some rice and pair it with egg but I told myself that would be boring. Then, I search for some ideas and mostly it is paired with bread. However, I want some rice for breakfast. Probably, weekdays are the days of the week that I get to eat a decent full breakfast meal.

Then I stumble upon a casserole recipes and I told myself I would like to try it out. This is the first time I cooked this dish and it is fairly easy, especially if you want a fast to prepare meal.

The ingredients can be easily found in our kitchen, which is a luck for me. All you need is to sauté everything and add the rice and simmer it until the rice is cooked. It’s just like cooking a pot of rice with extra step of sautéing.

Tips

You can probably use any kind of sausages you want or even meat. It just so happened that I bought German Franks and Hungarian Sausage yesterday. You can also use white long grain rice which is common here in the Philippines but red rice is our staple rice at home.

For this breakfast sausage casserole, if you are going to use white long grain rice, you prabably need less water compared when using red rice. If you are not sure how much water to add simply use one is to one ratio then add half cup of hot water towards the end of the cooking process until the rice is cooked.

You can also garnish it with any kind of cheese or you can use your favorite cheese. But sharp cheddar cheese and mozzarella is what I have in our freezer. The good thing about this cheeses is it get gooey and stretchy when it melt.
