This Beef Ribs Barbecue Recipe took four hours to cooked in the oven to get that succulent melt in your mouth meat. The beef short rib is is marinated in a home made barbecue sauce and baked in the oven for four hours. Then, the temperature was increased to caramelized the barbecue sauce.
While shopping in the the grocery last week, I passed by the meat section and saw these wonderful beef short ribs and decided to make something out of it. When we buy beef short ribs we usually cook kaldereta or nilaga out of it. It is just so flavorful and tender when cooked properly.
When cooking ribs barbecue in the oven, we usually use pork ribs. This is actually the second time I cooked beef ribs barbecue. My sister does not like beef but I just said it’s pork. She asked me why does it taste like beef, I just said I used beef bouillon cubes in the sauce, which I did. Well, she still ate it without asking if it’s really beef.
Tips
For this Beef Ribs Barbecue Recipe, I highly suggest to use beef short ribs. You may want to use a slab of beef ribs but I decided to cut it in chunks. You can marinate the meat overnight but I find two hours is already enough. Anyway, you’ll cook it in the sauce so the meat will absorb the flavor from the sauce.
You can serve it right away but make sure to remove the excess fat. Trust me it’s half barbecue sauce and half fat. You can also remove the excess fat and increase the oven temperature to maximum and bake it again for another 15 minutes or until the sauce caramelized.

3 Tablespoons | Spanish Paprika |
2 Tablespoons | Salt |
1/2 teaspoon | Ground Black Pepper |
Barbecue Sauce
1 1/4 cup | Tomato Sauce |
4 Tablespoons | Yellow Mustard Sauce |
1/4 cup | Gin |
6 Tablespoons | White Vinegar |
3 Tablespoons | Light Soy Sauce |
1 Tablespoon | Worcestershire Sauce |
1/2 cup | Brown Sugar |
1 Tablespoon | Garlic Powder |
1 Tablespoon | Spanish Paprika |
1 piece | Beef Bouillon Cube |
1/4 teaspoon | Ground Black Pepper |
Salt to Taste |
Procedure
Beef Ribs
Combine beef short ribs, Spanish paprika, salt and ground black pepper and set a side.
Barbecue Sauce
In a pot, combine tomato sauce, yellow mustard sauce, gin, light soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, Spanish paprika, beef bouillon cube and ground black pepper.
Boil and simmer over low heat until the sauce is reduced to half. Season with salt. Cool to room temperature.
Beef Ribs Barbecue
Pre-heat oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
Combine marinated beef short ribs, barbecue sauce and a cup of water in a baking pan. Cover baking pan with aluminum foil. Make sure it is tightly sealed.
Bake in the oven for 4 hours.
Remove meat from the sauce. Remove excess beef fat from the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
Pour sauce over the beef short ribs. Increase oven temperature to 250 degrees Celsius and bake for 15 minutes.
