It’s 3:15 in the morning. As always, I woke up early to cook for our packed lunch (My work starts at 7:00 in the morning). I’m not in the mood to eat rice for breakfast today. I think I ate too much rice the night before (I know this is a bad habit because it’s dinner but who cares, its pork ribs sinigang we’re talking about).
Luckily, we have this unopened bag of tasty bread, and oh, a bottle of maple syrup. Searching other ingredients, we do have eggs and evaporated milk, and this is my “a ha!” moment, maple french toast sweetened with maple syrup instead of sugar.
Ingredients
1 piece Egg
5 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
half a small can Evaporated Milk (I used Alaska Evap)
Butter for greasing
Procedures
1. Crack the egg in a small bowl.
2. Add the maple syrup and milk and stir gently until completely mixed. I’m trying to avoid forming bubbles.
3. Grease the skillet with enough butter (just enough, we don’t want the bread swim in butter), and heat.
4. Dip the tasty bread until it absorbed the mixture (Don’t over do it! It must still be firm and not soggy.) And place in the skillet. Turning from time to time until golden brown.
Maple French Toast ready in minutes!
HOW DOES IT TASTE?
This maple french toast taste good. It does not have the eggy taste. It’s sweet and have that subtle hint of maple. A perfect match to coffee to start a positive day!
