Shrimps in Kimchi Seasoning Recipe is a great way to spice up those expensive shrimps or prawns. We are used in cooking shrimps in sinigang, nilasing, halabos or the butter shrimps recipe. I know it’s delicious, however, sometimes we have to step up our game, right?
Shrimps in Kimchi Seasoning recipe has a nice kick of spiciness but compared with adding chili, it does not have that lingering spiciness. Just like kimchi, this recipe has that gush of subtle spiciness that dissipate after several minutes.
My mom was away and she ask me to cook the shrimps in the fridge for our packed lunch on Monday. Yup! We cook our packed lunch or baon the day before. Then, I just reheat it in the morning since I wake up very, very early.
I still prefer home cooked meal over fast food. It’s more affordable and way, way more delicious. Besides, my mom always cooked it for us. Motherly love as they say.
Tips
When cleaning the shrimps, I simply cut its horn and whisker. Then, I remove its shell but retain its head. Why? Because it was all the flavor you can ask in a shrimp.
To give this recipe an extra umami flavor, I added a couple tablespoons of aligue paste or crab fat paste. It may sound very sinful but you don’t get to eat this everyday right? A cheat day as you call.
You can easily find Aligue Paste in a bottle in the grocery isle. If you can’t find one, with the growing online merchants now a days, a bottle of kimchi seasoning and aligue paste are not hard to find. Check Shopee for instance.
A couple tablespoons of calamansi or lemon juice will really helps a lot to make this dish tastier. Also, it removes the fishy taste of the shrimps and aligue.
This recipe is an innovation of my previous recipe Garlic Butter Shrimp. The kimchi seasoning really makes this dish stand out.
