This Chicken and Shrimp Dumpling Burger was made from my leftover dumpling I made a week ago. I formed it into patties and fried it and stuffed it between slices of loaf breads and that’s it. A little twist just makes a big difference.
A week ago I made stuffed bitter gourd using ground chicken and shrimps. I was able to make lots of othe stuffing which is basically a dumpling recipe. Knowing that people here at home does not want to repeat any dishes I decided to fry it and serve it as our afternoon snack.
I served it with potato wedges and its amazing. The potatoes were simply tossed in with olive oil, salt, ground black pepper and Spanish Paprika, then baked untl golden brown.
I made a simple coleslaw which is basically some shredded cabbage a some tablespoons of sandwich spread. To spice it up, I added few slices of pickled jalapeño. I pan toasted the bread just to give it a little crunch.
Tips
This Dumpling Burger Recipe is made from leftover dumpling filling, however, you can make it fresh if you don’t have some leftover dumpling filling. If making it from scratch or fresh, I highly suggest to chill it for four hours for the flavor to develop. Also, this helps to firm the filling so you can easily form it into patties.
I drenched the patties in cornstarch mixture to give it a nice even golden brown color. The starch also helps the patties not to stick on your pan. When frying the patties, use about 3 tablespoons of oil at a time and add more if you think it needs more oil.
If you have some left over dumpling filling, you can formed it into balls and steam it. Otherwise, frying it will give you a nice dumpling meatballs.
